Ruger Standard versus Ruger ! or II Please help. I saw this thread and followed up. I also have a Ruger .22 Standard and the mags for the old standard model are no longer available anywhere I can find and I even sent a request to Ruger. My problem is not the left or right button thing, but that the release at the bottom of the grip re-grabs the mag after the first attempt at ejection thus requiring a second effort to push the release while pulling the magazine out. Worse, the spring system is making the gun jam about every sixth bullet out of nine and I just had the gun cleaned. Three local gunsmiths have told me that the problem is that the magazines for the Standard and Mark versions are not only different as to the button being on the left or right, but also the intermittent jamming problem. If anyone knows of some new or used Ruger Standard magazines for sale please advise, If anybody has another answer please advise. I am only a neophyte and not a true gun buff. I went to take my 9-hour CCW course today and after seeing the gun jam up every sixth shot from four separate brabnd new Ruger Magazines the Rangemaster noticed and told me that that was a problem with the difference between the base of the Ruger Standards (not the buttons) that no one knew how to address. He said that other than by finding a source for the original magazines I should dump the gun. I don't know who to believe or what to do. It has a vented special bull barrel and was a limited edition with after market work done on it and it can hit the X at 25 yards, so I do not want to give it up.
